CCGS Workshops
The Center for Cell & Genome Science is developing new techniques in cell biology, including molecular biology, fluorescence microscopy, and electron microscopy. To provide training in advanced techniques in cell biology, we are offering several intensive workshops to be scheduled during semester breaks. Fall 2021's offering is a DNA Assembly workshop to be held October 11-15, 2021.
DNA Assembly Workshop

This workshop is for any graduate student from any year who would like to brush up on their DNA chops. The class will be limited in size and will be filled on a first-come basis during Summer and/or Fall semester(s).

          Microscopy Workshop

This workshop comprises 1) lectures that give a conceptual foundation for modern optical microscopy and 2) hands-on lab experience applying different microscope modalities to image cells. This workshop is typically held in Summer and/or Fall semesters.

          Hey, What's the big idea?

This symposium brings together highly successful scientists from inside and outside the University to present the genesis of their greatest ideas. The goal is to understand how breakthroughs in science were inspired; how specific problems were picked for study, how experiments were designed to address the problem, and how critical insights were gained that led to the Ah-Ha! moment when it all made sense.

          Biosciences Symposium

The Biosciences Symposium is an annual Fall event bringing together members of the research community to cover a variety of topics from the Molecular Biology Program, Biological Chemistry Program, and Neuroscience Program. Student, postdoc, faculty, and external invited speakers’ research are all highlighted at this event.
